Ener Zambrano Huesembe collects collects Brazil nuts using a 'pallana' in his famiy's concession near Mavila, Peru. Brazil Nut Concession north of Puerto Maldonado on the section of the Interoceanic Highway in between Puerto Maldonado and Brazil. The concession is 2000 hectares and supported by ACCA. Brazil nut concessions are one of the many ways to protect tropical forests because Brazil nuts require primary forest to grow - they cannot be cultivated on plantations.
