Tarantulas emerging from nest in ground. Photographed at El Gato Lodge, an ecotourism initative along the Tambopata River in Peru near the community of Baltimore. El Gato, owned by the Ramirez Family, is in the buffer zone of the Tambopata National Reserve, which will be highly impacted by deforestation and development as a result of the new Interoceanica SUR highway. El Gato is one of the projects supported by Interoceanica SUR (iSUR), an organization that seeks to promote conservation efforts around the new Interoceanic Highway that streteches across Peru and Brazil.
