The concession is on the Rio Madre de Dios and the Rio Los Amigos. It protects lowland rainforest in the Los Amigos - Tambopata Conservation Corridor and has a biological research station called CICRA.

  • Sphinx moth (Order: Lepidoptera; Family: Sphingidae). Image taken at Wayqecha Cloud Forest Research Center. The research center is at 2950 meters elevation and is managed by the Amazon Conservation Association (ACA) and the Asociación para la Conservación de la Cuenca Amazónica (ACCA). Wayqecha is part of the Manu - Tambopata Corridor and is also part of ACA/ACCA's strategy to protect Amazon headwaters where the Andes meet the Amazon.

It is owned by the Amazon Conservation Association and its Peruvian sister organization, La Asociación para la Conservación de la Cuenca Amazónica.

  • Peanut-head bugs congregated on a tree (Family: Fulgoridae). Photographed in the Haramba Queros Wachiperi Conservation Concession, a concession managed by the Communidad Nativa de Queros-Wachiperi near Pilcopata, Peru. The Queros-Wachiperi are the first idigenous group to be granted management of a conservation concession in Peru. The 7000 hectare concession is pre-montane rainforest and the community holds the title for 40 years with hopes of renewal. The concesison is also part of the Manu - Tambopata Corridor, which protects land around the Interoceanica SUR highway.
